Bad Homburg Balloons

Filed under: General, Germany, James, Karen, Mark — karen @ 10:00

This morning we all got up very early to drive to Bad Homburg to watch them launching Hot Air Balloons. Not knowing if they would launch made it very hard to get out of bed. We had gone last night but it poured with rain for a couple of hours so they did not launch. The balloons were part of the Bad Homburg Light Festival and this morning there were 15 balloons in a small park. It was all very exciting as at first we were not sure if they would fly, then suddenly they got the word and it was all go. Baskets out, rigged up, balloons out, fans on to fill the balloons and then the burners were on to stand them up. As there were very few spectators we were able to stand in the very middle and be apart of it all. We watched them all launch and gracefully float away before heading home for breakfast

While on the subject of cool TreeMaps, this is the one that got me started. If you want an overview of the news just take a look at NewsMap. I really love the wy this demostrates what is “happening” and what not.
